Hello

I'm Pat Butler and I've spent most of my 21-year military career as an Army JAG attorney focused on federal government contracting.  After my military retirement in 2021, I decided that I wanted to help federal contracting officers with their important missions.  I draw on my legal background to provide top-notch acquisition support.

I understand that most contracting offices are understaffed and overworked.  Let me help you with your most challenging issues.

My Story

After graduating from Bucknell University on an Army ROTC scholarship, I received an "educational delay" to attend law school at The Ohio State University.  After graduating law school and passing the bar, I began my 21-year active-duty career as an Army JAG Officer.  I was stationed (or deployed) in Korea, Germany, Iraq and Washington DC.  I was introduced to government contract law while assigned to US Army Europe (USAREUR) in Germany.  I then transferred to the US Army Litigation Division where I served as agency counsel on high-dollar contract litigation cases defended by the Department of Justice's (DOJ) Commercial Litigation Branch.  After that assignment I entered the Title 10 Active Guard & Reserve (AGR) program and spent over six years as the Chief of Contract and Fiscal Law in the Office of General Counsel for the National Guard Bureau.

During this time, I recognized that Government contracting is a "team sport" and I worked many late nights with contracting officers dealing with difficult contracting challenges to meet the mission.  I retired as a Colonel (O6) in late 2021 and moved back home with my family to Northeast Ohio (Chagrin Falls).  Post retirement I accepted a contract with the MITRE Corporation to serve as the primary legal researcher and writer for their "Contract Protest Diagnostic Tool." See Contract Protest Diagnostic Tool (mitre.org)  I now use my legal training and expertise in government contract law to help federal contracting officers with their most difficult challenges.
